About South Chiltern Choral Society

South Chiltern Choral Society is a long established choir based in Sonning Common, South Oxfordshire.  We rehearse on Monday evenings during term time and perform three concerts a year in various locations within Berkshire and South Oxfordshire.  Our repertoire is varied; classical, traditional, easy listening, jazz and contemporary, and gives both singers and audience a chance to experience the full  range of music.

Our Christmas concert contains festive music, some sung with a local primary school.  In Spring, our concert just before Easter is usually a well known classical work for example the Mozart Requiem, or Karl Jenkins Mass for Peace, accompanied by professional soloists and a full orchestra or brass band.  Our summer concert is lighter and might be arrangments from the Great American Song Book.  Have a look at our archive to see what we have performed.

We raise money for other charities, by fund raising and carol singing.

As well as singing together, we also enjoy social activities, including quiz nights and concert trips.  We go on tour, most recently to Albi in the south of France, performing in Albi Cathedral and singing with a local choir.

Many of our choir members form life-long friendships and enjoy each other's company on country walks, painting, lunches and many other activities.

We believe that singing really gets the endorphins flowing and we are always refreshed after our Monday evening's rehearsal!
